    Lab Rules & Policies

No eating, drinking or use of tobacco products is permitted in any Academic Technology computer facility.

All students, staff, and faculty must bring their UF-ID card to use our facilities.

Classroom reservations are not to be used for individual drop-in computing or for computing not directly related to the reserved course. These activities should take place during regular lab hours. It is important for instructors and classes to arrive on time. Classrooms are cleared of other users prior to the start of each class. A classroom will not be kept empty for more than 15 minutes past the scheduled starting time if other students are waiting to use a computer. If a class has not arrived within 30 minutes of the scheduled starting time, the reservation is forfeited and the classroom will be fully opened to the public.

Instructors who reserve a classroom are expected to inform Academic Technology when they will not need the facility by calling Daniel Delgado at at 392-2342 at least a day in advance. If it is a last-minute cancellation call the computer lab directly or inform the lab operator in the lab. The Campus Directory and the Academic Technology Computing Facilities handout (available in any lab or at the UF Computing Help Desk in E520D CSE) list phone numbers for each computer lab. If more than one reservation is missed without notice, Academic Technology reserves the right to cancel the reservation for the remainder of the semester. An instructor whose class reservations were canceled by Academic Technology will receive the lowest scheduling priority for his or her next request.

Students have access to the open areas of the computer labs (and the classrooms when no classes are scheduled) during regular lab hours. Specific departments may have scheduling priority at each location; all other reservations are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Instructors who have special software needs must inform Academic Technology well in advance. If you have software or data that you want your students to be able to access from the Academic Technology lab file servers, contact Jameson Johnston at 392-2007 at least 1 week before you want them available in the labs. Software that you want installed to run on Academic Technology file servers must be delivered much earlier, in order for Academic Technology's staff to evaluate the viability of the software in our environment. Please see the Academic Technology Class Software website or call Jameson Johnston at 392-2007 for more information.

I have read and agree to abide by the above rules and policies.
